The H.O.P.E Programme

health Opportunities Through Physical Education

HOPE Programme, Sporting Family Change

The H.O.P.E programme enables us to provide a variety of sports activities which gives local families health opportunities through physical education (H.O.P.E). Many of the families we work with face daily challenges and struggle to bond as a family unit.

Our unique approach is to work holistically with the whole family to help boost self-esteem, confidence, physical fitness, improve emotional resilience and make a positive and lasting difference to local families’ lives.

The programme started in 2014 and has been successfully delivered across Bath and North East Somerset since then. We work in partnership with a number of other local organisations/charities such as Aiming High Parent Carer’s Group, VOICES, The Carer’s Centre, Bath & North East Somerset and Connecting Families via Bath & North East Somerset Council.

A variety of fun sports activities have been delivered according to the needs and interest of the families taking part. For example:

  • Dance sessions for a group of Mums who have been victims of domestic violence

  • Gym sessions at a local personal training suite in Widcombe

  • Family fun days

  • Bath Half Marathon Family Fun Run

  • Weekend break for families at Mill on The Brue outdoor activity centre

  • A residential week at Jamie’s Farm.

The variety that these experiences offer has created new opportunities for local families to become more physically active whilst still having fun!
