A historic day in the charity’s history! Sporting Family Change recently hosted its first-ever conference named the ‘Culture of Brilliance Conference’, which featured a best-selling author and recipient of the Red House Award. The conference, presented at the prestigious Gainsborough Hotel in Bath city centre, focused upon the unique culture within the charity and the different approach we conduct to tackling social issues within BANES. Presenting first to local authorities and businesses in the audience was our chair trustee Richard Bullard who examined the current social landscape in BANES, before we heard from our fundraiser Jilly Edwards on the unique solutions from SFC and some local case studies exampling successes. Our founder Jimmy Deane then concluded the first-half of the conference by discussing the culture at the charity and how small acts of kindness can have a greater positive impact than we ever know. We were then joined by the amazing families we know for the second-half of the conference for a talk from best-selling author Andrew Cope. Andrew, who is the only Doctor of Happiness in the UK, reinforced the power of positivity which is fundamental to our work. The event was a great success, with audience members commenting “one of the most inspirational events ever, thank you so much for inviting me!” and “I left feeling inspired and energised! Great work team SFC!”.
