Charity’s 2023 Ball a colourful success! On November 18th we hosted our annual Charity Ball, which commemorated our ninth anniversary. Our annual Ball is always the highlight of our year at the Charity and this year was no different. The theme was colour and the night certainly delivered as it encapsulated everything we are about - be kind, be colourful and be you! The event also happened to be our joint highest-ever attendance, with over 260 inspiring local people supporting us on the night.
Guests heard from many inspiring individuals within their local community; Ali Henretty, who bravely shared his experience as a domestic violence victim and how that informed his desire to help others. Jade Gibbs followed Ali and spoke on the presence of the Charity in the community and how it had positively impacted her, resulting in her choosing to run the New York City Half Marathon for us. Andy Spinks then spoke about the Charity and its use of sport empowered him to push his physical and mental boundaries, after recovering from a near-death experience. Last, but by no means least, Lena from the Charity discussed how she fled her war stricken home in Ukraine and sought refugee in England and how the experience reaffirmed the need to look at life positively. We would like to thank both our keynote speakers once again. We also made new additions to our Hall of Fame, which inducted local heroes to our hall of fame. The second cohort of inductees were Lucy Bush, Ian Reed, Becky Ware and the late Merv Clingan.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the evening such a great success once more. Without your support it wouldn't have been possible! You can view all the fabulous photos from this year's event by clicking here.
