SFC Triathletes Complete First-Ever Triathlon!

A sporting success for our first-time triathletes! Long-term supporters of Sporting Family Change will be aware of the numerous sporting challenges the charity undertakes with local family members across Bath, as we use sport to provide new opportunities, facilitate empowerment and enable positive lifestyle changes. The latest sporting event was the Westonbirt Triathlon 2019, as we tasked local families to participate in their first sprint triathlon which involved a 400M swim, a 24KM cycle ride before finishing on a 5KM run. Since these individuals took on the challenge back in November, the charity has hosted monthly meet-ups to ensure everyone was race-ready; starting with a swimming social to a transition training session last month. The efforts in these meet-ups was rewarded on Monday as over 35 individuals completed the Westonbirt Triathlon and earned their new ‘triathlete’ title. The collective effort was inspiring and worthy of another congratulations! One family member was quoted as saying “A spectacular day! I have never run let alone completed a tri. I started in January and just finished the 5KM in under forty minutes so I am really pleased with myself.”
